Press Release: #002

The CBDP is seeking to enhance democratic policing with the newly appointed director of the Liberian National Police.
The Citizen Bureau for Development and Productivity extends warm congratulations to the newly appointed director of the Liberia National Police Mr. Patrick Sudue.
We envision a new dawn in the Liberia National Police by his appointment. We are hopeful that the welfare of the men and women of the Liberia National Police will not be compromised under his administration because he went through the walls of the Liberia National Police under the supervision of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) like most of those officers he is about to lead.
Founder and executive director for the Citizen Bureau for Development and Productivity (CBDP), John Kamma, who received the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Liberia National Police says: “I appreciate seeing this change in the institution and pledge the Citizen Bureau’s support to the LNP to help meet the objective of democratic policing and accountability, so they can be better equipped and responsive to the needs of the people.”
The CBDP is an advocate for improved logistics, finances, and regular supplies of uniforms for the LNP, so that they can be identified and held accountable in the communities in which they serve.
The CBDP intends to ring the bell for accountable actions and integrity in order to guarantee professional conduct for democratic policing. Placing emphasis on accountability, responsiveness and representation will enhance public trust in the institution and by extension the Government of Liberia headed by His Excellency President George Weah.
The CBDP looks forward to making direct contact with the newly appointed director to receive his support and cooperation in our long time desire to collaborate with the Liberia National Police. We ask Mr. Patrick Sudue for his cooperation in lobbying the formal justice system to empower the Citizen Bureau with prosecutorial powers, such that, offenders of certain crimes are sentenced to visible hard work as an alternative to detention, and equipping them with the prospects to acquire skills that are crucial to their livelihood and sustainability.
Understanding the services and position of the CBDP will help the LNP underpin justice by referring minor disputes to the CBDP to resolve and together achieve Police-Citizen Unity.
